The label reads Tiziani, Alta Moda Pronto, Roma, Made In England.

Hmmm, has me puzzled. Any info would be appreciated!

Can't help u with the label, sorry, but this is "wow," esp. with that belt!! Am assuming the obvious--that it's a Italian design house with a branch or manufacturing contact in England. I've had quite a few Italian-designed and/or made items from the 60s, and they've always been high quality! I'd play up the Italian angle for sure....

Hi Anne,

Well, I'll take your advice on the Italian connection. Maybe someone else will wander by over the weekend and be able to add more info. Thanks!

I'm afraid I'm pretty clueless on this label, but...

There *was* a costume designer based in Rome called Tiziani that created the costumes for quite a lot of films in the late 60s... the two sticking out in my mind are both Elizabeth Taylor films - "Boom" and "The Comedians", but I recall seeing the name on the credits of some Italian films too... things I couldn't remember the titles of in a million years, but one was something to do with diamonds and was based in London, but with it being in Italian and it being on TV at about 3 in the morning I wasn't at all sure what was going on. LOL! I just thought "ooh, 60s film! Fab clothes!" and sat and watched it.

The dress is very 60s, very mod and would still be the sort of item you'd find in the top fashion houses in Italy today.

It looks fabulous!

love, moons and starrs,
Senti.*

...just done a search for Elizabeth Taylor and Tiziani and have come up with the following:

Evan Carter Richards

Richards is a native of Jacksboro, and he has become a world known fashion designer. His famous house of fashion called Tiziani is located on the Via Gregoriana, a street noted for business and homes.

Evan is a graduate of North Texas State University with a major in Music. His chief reason for going to Rome was to study the opera. He appeared in several Italian operas and from this became interested in costumes and design.

He has designed clothes for such famous people as Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Grace Ranier. Today, he is considered one of the leading European designers of high fashion.

Also found a bit on the internet movie database about a company called "Tiziani of Rome":

Thank you so much Senti! That is a huge help, I hadn't had much luck finding anything at all. It is a cool dress and very well made. I should have it listed soon. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who liked it.
