60\'s Dress?

Hello :)

Came across this little lovely and it's throwing me off a bit! The material is so 70s/80s to me, yet the cut is very 60s with the little bow and all and it has a side metal zipper.

note - the belt is not original.

Any thoughts? :)

Thank you!

Is there a label or is it, possibly, handsewn. If the latter, it's probably fairly recent, inspired by vintage.

I'm leaning toward the latter.

The fabric's throwing me too...is there a close up of the fabric, back and front of it? Cute dress!

Thanks everyone! Yes, there are little metal threads woven throughout it. I guess I always think 80s with this kind of fabric! I guess it does have a heavier feel though than the 80s slinky metallics.

I'm not convinced: it has an '80s look to me. Are there any fabric labels in the side seams? It looks a lot lighter than the metallic fabrics I've seen from the late '50s-early '60s and it looks too unstructured as well. Do you have any photos of it unbelted so we can see the shape? Items made by a home dressmaker can be hard to date because old techniques can be still be used.

The metallic thread would be lurex, and I've had a lot of early 60s to mid 60s dresses with that shot through them. Lame' and lurex aren't the same thing, but people often sort of lump them together....

There was a label, but it has been pulled off. Here are a few more details that might help - the dress is actually two layers. The outer silvery material is sewn to a black taffeta inside. The waist is actually structured, but the dress is on the larger size, so on my mannequin it looks a bit loose. There is a side metal zipper that reads "crown". I thought 80s originally, but I think I'm leaning toward 50s or 60s now. There are also the old style belt loops, but the original belt is missing. :)
