"Value" is tough because "value" is what whoever stumbles acrossed it is willing to pay for it . Mansfield itself, as far as I know is not a collectible label in its own right (like say an Emilio Pucci, etc, or early Chanel would be), so what someone is willing to pay depends on current trends in fashion and probably area and season. We just are coming out of a fall/winter where fur collars were the rage and people were wearing furs again, but you never know what next year brings. Unless you are looking more for a value to insure it, of course. Maybe one of our British members can shed some light on mansfield. I haven't checked the Label Resource yet. It could possibly be a smaller label. To me, and it is only an opinion, is that the label looks newer than 1960s. (the actual mansfield label) That is not a negative thing necessaarily. I also think the acetate lining would make it later too. But I would await other more expert opinions.

I do like the belted style of this jacket. I think it is very chic. The trouble with some furs is that some of the cuts are very boxey. The "granny chic" thing has been popular but a lot of people still will always like a cut that is a bit slimmer. I don't sell fur pieces, so I am not an expert, but it does look very much like some of the rabbit stoles I have seem from other members so it could quite possibly be.

Good luck and hopefully others will chime in.

It;s an attractive, young looking coat which is a plu. But we are past the coat selling seaonn, so I woudl hold it until next August if you want o get a good price.

Now as to age - those shoulder seem a bit firm and square for 60s, but that could just be good tailoring. The belted line, fur collar and length look good for very late 60s, early 70s. That's my best guess. Soem of our other meber can refine that date. I don't know the label.

And that sure looks like bunny from here!

I, too, have to agree with Chris & Hollis that holding onto it until Fall would be the best bet to achieve the best sale price.

The cut is great and with coats a good cut goes a long way. That label has me thinking late 70's - it's very Studio54 font.

Many thanks to chris, hollis & justine Great advice!!
will hold on till august
This site is a great help as i mainly deal with mens designer shirts, jeans and suits occasionally i get something vintage!

Kind regards
Tina

Glad to help. And who knows, you might be able to help us on men's shirt and designer stuff when we get it! There certainly are many times when I am stumped on those.

Chris

Stick around because this week..starting wednesday we will be having a Rockabilly workshop. They aren't so strict on exact age of the garments, more with the overall look so you might find a new niche to market to.

I agree on 70s. The collar looks to me like mink, rather than rabbit, too. I'm thinking I can see longer, sleek guard hairs at the outer edges and softer/downier fur beneath it. Rabbit fur would have hairs of more uniform texture and length.

Hi!

I agree with Steph, that the collar is mink.

I love this coat and had a similar style in the late 60s (or maybe it was
early 70s?).

Yes, to holding this for next year. List in early September and you should
do extremely well with this.
