60\'s or 70\'s on this Butterfly sleeve dress?

It's a black poly knit with huge butterfly sleeves. The neckline is straight across the front, and dips down in back. No labels, just a sewn-in paper tag with size and lot numbers.

I have a vague memory of seeing some 60's rock icon wearing a dress like this, but I can't remember who it was. Janis Joplin? Yoko Ono? It's driving me crazy!

I am thinking more 70s, but it could possibly be late 60s. I have seen someone with that on as well, Joplin maybe.

I"m on the early '70s too, and willing to bet that used to a maxi skirt and has been chopped. What's the hem like? Does it look original?

Nicole, you're probably right.

Now that I look at it closely, I see that the hem stitches are a different thread than the other seams in the dress. Too bad, it would have been a great maxi.
