60's pink wool coat

Hi! I became the owner of a beautiful wool coat. It seems to me that it’s from the 1960s, especially looking at the collar and buttons, but the cut and waist belt make me think it might be from later? Maybe it’s from the 80s after all? What do you think? The only label is the one in the photo, and the material is definitely all wool. Thank you for your advice!

Hi, it's a classic style but it is not from the 60s. The care label is really helpful at helping date the coat, as the dry cleaning symbol was not introduced in the UK until 1976, so it can't be before then. I'm not sure where the coat was made, but the US introduced care symbols much later, in 1993. I would say that it is probably from the 1980s/90s.

It sure looks like 70s to me. The collar shape and oversized shoulder treatment, my mom had a coat similar to this in the 70s. I don't see 80s, but lets see what others suggest.

great color!

I think that might be a different dry cleaning symbol you are thinking of, because I am sure I have see those types of dry cleaning symbols on European clothes into the 1960s. They weren't common on North American clothes until the early 70s - definitely by 1973 as I have a brochure about it from then. The coat looks early 70s to me. It is conservative in cut - the sort of thing you would see Tricia or Julie Nixon wearing... but it doesn't look post 1974 or I would expect it to be longer and with a sash tie belt.
