I found this great suit over the weekend:

Its Very heavy and nicely made. I have a couple of questions. I know the fur is persian lamb but what is with the silver shading? Was that some sort of paint or dye that they used to give it the highlights? It looks very snazzy but I'm used to seeing the plain black fur.

The coat is in excellent condition but look what someone did to the skirt...

Any ideas why someone would carefully remove the lining and nothing else? There are no tags or labels on the coat so any info was on the skirt. Might that have anything to do with it?

I'm trying to decide now whether to sell this as a set or just the coat alone. Personally I think the skirt is kinda dowdy by modern standards. I had to clip it to fit on my mannequin. The jacket though is really cute. I think it would look great with jeans. What do you all think?

Hmmm..

I am not sure why someone would remove the lining unless it was damaged and it makes the skirt salvageable

Oh...i just thought of two reasons. The first would be that the wearer was sensitive/allergic to the fabric of the lining or it was too abrasive. The second would be that sometimes on skirts the lining is a tighter measurement (sometimes on some pencil skirts) than the skirt versus being kinda free. Maybe the way the original owner was shaped, it pulled acrossed the thighs a little and it just didn't lay nicely..and that extra inch of movement room or maybe a little more or less that they got by removing it made a difference.

Would the skirt be less dowdy on someone who was the right size? and it just sort of "hangs" when on a much smaller manni. Someone could hem it just a few inches too to suit them.

I might market it as a coat with a matching skirt as a bonus versus featuring the skirt.

i agree with chris, hit hard on the coat angle but include the skirt a/f, as it would be a shame to seperate them after all this time!
grey is the next big colour according to vogue so i hope it does well for you - it's very smart!

Be sure to use Astrakhan and Persian Lamb in your title. This fur is hugely popular for fall and is pulling the bids right now. That silver grey shading is natural to the fur. It's just a grey lamb instead of a black one!

It's a great suit, and I would include the skirt - definitely!

Good luck with it,
Jody

Thanks for the advice everybody. I was originally going to put this on my website but if Persian Lamb is the big thing this fall, I'll stick it on ebay for a fast sell.

Thanks!
