70s? 80s? Culottes

I thought this was a skirt when I picked it up! Very full pair of culottes actually. Nice SW style print. I'm not sure if I would go 70's or 80's though? It has a tag that says Bergdorf Now size 40. And then a second tag that I can't read. It's either Leno or Levo with an accent. Cotton fabric. Pockets. Thanks for any help!

Here you go. I actually looked closer and it does say MISS in front of it.

I find 80s fits one size smaller than today, 70s fits 2 sizes smaller. This may be of use if it has not been altered.

The Miss Bergdorf department (introduced in the early 50s for younger women) seems to have been overhauled in 1980; maybe that's when the "Now" got added to the label?

So the pants wouldn't date from before then. Also, as Melanie suggests, considering the waist measurement will help narrow dating.

A March 1980 newspaper article announced: "March 3 is the official opening of Bergdorf Goodman's redone fifth floor, to be known as Miss Bergdorf Now...turning its fifth floor into a store within a store where a young customer of modest means could fill all her clothing needs."
