70s 80s or 90s stirrup pants?

Hello everyone just picked up an interesting pair of red and black houndstooth stirrup pants or leggings from California hi way 1 sold by mervyns department store

At first glance i was thinking 90s

But the tag gives me late 70s early 80s vibes. I did google searches etsy and ebay nothing to compare the tag to.

Did an rn search came back 1972. But that could be the earliest date that line was made? Not necessarily when these pants were made

I recall that stirrup pants were popular in the late 1980s - early 1990s. I don't recall them in the late 70s-early 80s. I think your first instinct is correct -- early 1990s. Red/black color combinations and houndstooth patterns were also popular in the early 1990s.

I agree 1990s. Especially with the elastic waist.
I have a pair from the 60s, and they have a zipper.

Ohhhh.... I had black and white houndstooth ones - ca. 1990/91... yikes!!! Not a look I'm proud of today, but there you go...

1990-early 1990s.

About 1980s and stirrup pants... we wore them in the mid 80s. They did, in fact, exist. Wore them with the oversized sweater and little go go boots. If they were neon, all the better. It was a look.
