A 1967 newspaper article is titled Mini-Shifts Are 'It' on Waikiki and adds that

"All da wahines at Waikiki wearing da new mini-shift. Too much good looking! It's sleeveless, shorter than most mini-skirts. Worn over bathing suits or shorts--meaning practically all day. Rainbow prints are most popular. In the top shops, $5 to $7....The elegant Waikiki shops are Andrade, Carol and Mary, Liberty House, McInerney. All have several shops in hotels and Waikiki shopping district."

The print looks '60's but it is also a very typical tropical print and the dress looks longer to me than a "mini." How does the size compare to a modern size?

I found this about Andrade, "In the mid-1980s, InterPacific Hawaii Retail Group Ltd. acquired McInerny from Seibu Group, and operated it with previous acquisitions Andrade and Carol & Mary. InterPacific also operated Water Wear Hawaii and local Salvatore Ferragamo stores.

InterPacific dropped its license agreement with Salvatore Ferragamo, and merged Carol & Mary and Andrade into McInerny in the 1990s."

I remember all those stores - all gone.

that muslin lining and the tag are indicative of 60s.

and although that dress is not NEAR as short as the minis i wore, for a (possibly elderly) woman on vacation to the islands, this would be considered a shorter length.

Wow cool! My first thought was mid-late 60s as well, it's beautiful - maybe the length puts it more earlier/mid 60's - all my patterns from 65 and under the dress length is still more conservative, from 65 and up - much shorter; but that may just be the patterns I have, I'm not sure. Sweet score either way!!

I agree with 60's as well. Great dress!
