Hi all, been reading these forums for a while now, but this is my first post.

I found this ensemble the other day, it's a belted jacket and mini skirt, looks to be 80s.

The only thing I could find on "Jim Bob's Leather" is on this blog where he talks about an Iraqi named Jim Bob who does custom leather and tailoring, and has a scan of a business card. Iraq borders Turkey so I'm wondering if it could be the same guy.

Also, what would you call this look? Distressed leather?

Interesting mix - using a distressed denim style look but on leather. I recall 1988 was THE year of distressed denim, if I am not mistaken... leather clothing had been popular for a few years already - so my guess would be 1988ish.

...and I think the similarity of the lettering of "Jim Bob's" on your label and on that business card, the close-enough locations, and the leather connection with both the Iraqi Jim Bob and your Jim Bob make it very likely that that is the same person. Maybe brought back by a veteran of...well...Operation Desert Storm started in 1991. Did we have military personnel there before that? Or could it be a late-80s style still hanging on over there?

Very interesting find!

Yep. It followed on the coat tails of the Era of Acid Wash.

There is also the distint "patchwork" leather that's apparent.

OMG I had a distressed patchwork jacket. Still have it! One of my favorite 80's pieces I couldn't part with. LOL.
