A beautiful dress with issues!

I was not sure if I should even list this dress as it has some rust spots from the belt of another dress that was packed on top of it.

But it was so nice I decided what the heck, maybe someone knows the secret of removing rust stains!

It is a small size 34-24-36, made of soft combed cotton and still has the tags!

See the stains, damn shame!

That is so lovely! I would love to have it if it were my size, even with the stains! I, too, have an item with rust stains & have tried all my home remedies, with limited success, but there must be something that will work!

I have tried everything I know of (not on this dress) and have ruined more items trying then I care to admit!!!

I have used things that said safe for fabric and it ended up eating a whole right through it! I gave up and decided that it was not worth it, sometimes the beauty of the dress makes the flaws un-noticeable!

Have you guys tried a soap called Lava soap?

It's in a maroon package with the words LAVA in white across the top. My mom and grandmother swear by it. I have used it on several occassions on my items to get those difficult stains out. I usually take an old tooth brush and scrub it on. Then soak the item in the sink or washer for about 15 minutes. Then run the item through the gentle cycle of my washing machine. I have yet for it to bleed or mess the material up. But then I don't think I have used it on the kind of material that your dress is made of.

It may take a couple of tries, but it has worked for me 90% of the time to either get the stain out or to really lighten it so it doesn't jump out at you as before.

I can get the soap at the dollar store and the regular grocery stores around here in Texas.

Yeah, it has gotten rust stains out or faded the stain really good. I have used it on cotton and a silky like material once and got good/great results..... But I haven't tried it on the above material of your dress.....

You might want to try a place, and not soak it, but just clean it and rinse it off. make sure to get it all off or it will discolor the material over time.

and yes, Chris, mechanics use it too......but it usually is through the ZEP product line b/c they buy it professionally and in bulk.
Hubby is a mech.....
