History is full of fascinating and extraordinary women whose names we don't all know. Lucy Duff Gordon may be one of those names. She left an adulterous husband when that was not really done, opened her own couturier business that became a fashion empire, and revolutionized the way women dressed (and – don't blush – the way they seduced lovers). Let me tell you a little more about her story (and why the costume designer of Downton Abbey wanted to give her a nod).
