A few questions on Topal-Carlson suit

Hi all,

I have a few questions on this suit. I am pretty sure it's 60s but it could be earlier. It has two opposing button holes rather than a button on one side, presumably needing a button chain link. The label is Topal-Carlson. I couldn't find much about the label besides the shop being located in Providence in the 60s based on a few ads.
1. Thoughts on dating?
2. Fabric/ content?
3. What would you call this print? It's a stripe but not traditional. Barcode or op art came to mind but maybe it has a specific name?

Thank you
Victoria

I think it's '60s, and I think the fabric is a "novelty weave" which is a weave made up of two or more basic weaves. It does have a striped effect but I am not sure I would describe it as a stripe. The fiber looks like wool to me from the photos but it could be a wool/cotton blend or a combination of cotton and wool and polyester. If you can do a burn test that might help you determine the fabric content. What does it "feel" like when you touch it or smell it? Is it lightweight or heavy? Can you tell if it's been shortened?

I really think it's '60s.
