a find for the retro kitchen

Just though I'd share... I couldn't resist picking up this vintage food mixer, with it's original box and recipe leaflet! Although they are both a bit kitchen splattered, I just love the graphics.

It gave me such deja-vu, as my mum had a very similar one, maybe even the exact same model.

GoldenAge,
How nice that you have that original box and great instruction book, too...BUT you sent me reeling backwards when I looked at that and immediately thought, "Lord! That's not vintage, is it? I have one that looks almost exactly like that."

Getting too old...way too old...

Lynne ! That's what I thought too.

I'm still using my mixer, have the book somewhere? but the box is long gone.

hhhhhhhmmmmmmmm, maybe I am worth some $$ - vintage I be!

I just looked and I still have my mixer! It's a General Electric - almond with brown trim. I have some interesting vintage kitchen things that were my mother's including an old sifter and an ice cream scooper from the '40's. I'll have to get them out and take pictures.

I don't bake at all any more - but I be "vintage" - too.

I reckon that style of mixer was around for awhile, maybe you can still get similar ones. But it was the graphics on the box that got my vintage bug going, surely 1950s. If I'd seen the mixer without the box I don't think I'd have bought it. I picked up some lovely 50s plates from the same source.

Nice to know that I'm not the only one feeling old.....I bought that one new in the '70s. Maybe they had the same graphics in the '50s? I don't think the mixer is that old though.

well, I did a bit of sleuthing. On the back of the manual there are details for servicing at Amalgamated Electric Services Ltd.

According to this site (about TVs, which Philips also made), Amalgamated Electric Services at the address shown on my leaflet, was founded circa 1960 for servicing Philips goods, and changed their name to Combined Electronic Services in 1968.

So I guess it's 60s, which makes more sense of the woman shown on the front, she looks more 1960s. The graphics are still so 50s influenced.

... and I really didn't mean to make anyone feel old!

Here's my GE atomic-age PINK mixer:

I love this thing, and am torn by it. I bought it to re-sell, but it works and I've used it because my "new" avocado green mixer--from 1974 when I got married (the 1st time)--went missing during one of our moves over the last few years and I can't find it. So, maybe I'll just keep this little beauty....

ohhh love that one, Anne! that has the dealy on the left that you click down on it and the beaters pop right out for cleaning, right??

i was WONDERing when you were going to post the pix!! and Marty, a diner???!!!??? i wanna see ~

please?

That pink one is fabulous - I don't think I could part with that.

I'm sure they made the same one for years and just updated the packaging.

This must be true, I just found this one on ebay, same make and model number, whole different vintage graphic.
