A good Day

I posted a bit ago that I spent the day at the public libary researching local labels.

Last week I have a great afternoon at a really nice local vintage shop. I been a customer there for years and years. But this time - no buying, just photographing!

Elizabeth Schaaf, the owner and a delightful person, graciously agreed to let me come in and take photos of local labels for my research. It was grand! She even let me into her storage room. I found quite a few that were helpful, plus some national labels that have already made their way to the Label Resource.

Here's the shop:

If you are ever in the Lousiville Area - be sure to visit Elizabeth's Timeless Attire on Frankfort Ave. She's great, the shop is always fun, and she has a nice selection in a small space.

I wish! It's a lightweight cotton from last season . I used to have a couple 49er jackets - I wore them all out.

Yesterday I went ot anothe rlocal shop - The Nitty Gritty on Barret Ave. , but didn't see any labels I needed. I also saw at leaat 2 dresses from a local used clothing shop that I had passed on at a big sale - now I know who is hitting the racks after me!

its always such fun to see other peoples shops...and of course pic of other vgers...thanks

What fun! Must be like the vintage equivilant to touring Wonka's factory, getting to look at delicious things piled on top of more delicious things and seeing behind the scenes.

Glad to hear you are trying to preserve/research some local shop history. That's on my summer to do list (which is starting to gat as long as Santa's naughty nice list)

Sounds like a lot of fun Hollis! Thanks for posting the pics....great to have a glimpse of this
shop (wish I was close enough to visit it) and to see you!

It is Mary Jane - I 've benn shopping there over 20 years now - mostly for myself, but occasionally at her August sales for resale. She has a nice selection- always a sometimes Victorian/Edwardian, a few 20s - 40s things, then lots of nice quality 50s and 60s. Very much a quality boutique approach.

That sounds like so much fun!

I'm going to make a note of the shop so I can visit the next time I go to Louisville.
