I think I'm going to sell this one... I've already got WAY too many mannequins!! Haven't decided yet if I'm going to list her on ebay or put her in my antique mall shop. Since shipping doesn't sound delightful on this, I'll probably go for the shop. At least for now. So I'd like to know what I should dress her in!

Thoughts?

Turned up nose, bright red lips, short hair...I'd guess her to be early 50's. And very cute too!
Connie

I would say 50s Kristine - although I think maybe mid or a little later.

She reminds me of June Cleaver (Leave it to Beaver's mom)

Sue

That late, you think? So far the only guess on VCA is 20's... my personal thought was late 30's or early 40's -- those lips remind me of Crawford.

Also.. i've always thought of my other manni, Miss Trixie, as being late 50's and they are as different as night and day... in shape, construction, as well as about 6" different in height. I've always felt fairly confident about Trixie's age... she has the same stance you see (that bowed back) in many fashion magazines from the time. Although i do think her make-up was redone at some point in the 60's, I think.

I think the one you want to sell is c. 1950 -- the face could be earlier but the hairstyle isn't. The second one looks late 1950s to me but was possibly repainted following the original make-up. The lashes and brows are too heavy for anything after the mid 1960s and the lips too red.

so Snow white.....don't you think???
She makes me think of late 30's , possibly early 40's actually.....

l wouldnt put her later than that...what is her body shape??? that haircut, think june allison, think cutsey....l'll stick with 1940's at the latest...1938-1945

and l would say the second model is a late 50s mannequin and tha make up was redoen in the arly 80's..l used to do mine jsut like that, thick brows, shadow up to the brows almost....

Kristine, I think my guess of mid 50s may
be high.

I'm positive she is not 20s and I don't think she is early 30s either.

Her face is very similar to the sewing dolls that were popular in the 40s/early 50s, so
I'm going with that date. :)

Your second manni, I would say late
50s or early 60s. Her makeup (if it hasn't been redone) is very similar to my
Trixie manniquin which is from '63.

Sue

Thanks, all.
I've been studying fashion drawings of hats & heads for the last 24 hours.
I know we had some 50's suggestions... but truthfully, she just doesn't FEEL 50's
Also -- she's incredible short, compared to my other mannequins. About 5'5" tall.
And I think she's WOOD with a plaster overlay. Her eyes are carved in... very neat! Those lips are just so very Crawford.. and I was just looking at some pics of Myrna Loy were she had the SAME makeup as my gal, dated to about 38, I think it was.

Anyway... I'm feeling most comfortable with a late 30's or early 40's date on her so far. I've got inquiries in with several mannequin collectors to see what else I can find out. I've also heard that wartime mannequins tended to be shorter, but I can't find out HOW short.... so maybe into the early-mid 40's.

Sue-- that 2nd manni I've had for some time . I agree... late 50's/ealry 60's on her.. with her makeup redone at some point. Her name is TRIXIE, too! She's about 5'11" tall.

I'm definately selling the older one... and probably selling Trixie as well. But I'm sure not looking forward to the shipping!
