Unpacking and came across a book of my grandma, Dorothea's, sketches from when she was young. Wanted to share a few and ask when you guys think this one was done?

Some others, this one I love because the birds on branches is like my new logo and I didn't even realize it til now!

Also there was this cool pic of my grandparents, the 2 on the left, contrasting starkly with their friends (my grandpa played in big bands and was quite the bad boy)....

A telegram my grandpa got from his cousin, Raymie (Raymond) asking him to come to Chicago to play in a band in 1938, the story is it was one of the Dorsey brother's bands and he couldn't make it

oh what fun you're having!! that's neat how those birds do resemble your new logo, too!!

30s popped into my head, although maybe 20s would be more accurate...she seems a bit of a romanticist!

Great stuff!!

I was going to say late 20's, early 30's on the sketch with the Amelia Earhart look.
Not that it looks like Earhart but the aviator cap and all.

I wonder if she used photos from movie star fan magazines to draw from? The equestrienne, the aviatrix and the couple with their backs to us all look like they could be straight from Hollywood.

Thanks guys! She may have, no idea. She died before I ever came across these to ask her about them, though I remember her teaching me how to draw pin-curls and those wide, lashed feminine eyes when I was little!

What great mementos of your grandmother! She really was a wonderful influence on you.

I'm curious about the watermark in the first photo, lower left. What does it say?

Her sketches were on some paper from a local business, I'd have to dig them out to see. Not a watermark, reverse of the imprint.
