I recently bought a lovely silk crepe dress, with the label 'Polmarks Model', photos will be taken tomorrow for your datestimates, just checking if anyone's come accross the maker before? I've found 2 similar dresses online by Googling and they're raaaather pricey..!

Thanks!
Ava

Ok, so from the inner construction and front beading I'd say around the '60s some time?..

I agree with 70s--it is almost exactly like the dress my ex-MIL wore to my first wedding in 1974! Although hers was not anywhere near as lovely and was not an expensive dress, but the style was almost identical.

My aunt is an embroidery designer, and the front beading on this dress looks very similar to some of her samples from the mid-late 60s so that was what I was basing my assumption on, but maybe she was just ahead of her time!
I don't think I'm allowed to post links here am I? If anyone's interested with a spare moment, google Polmarks Model and check out the two dresses for sale that come up fairly near the top... do people agree with the dating on them? I'd like to see a pic of their labels for reference! You know when you come accross a garment and you just want more and more from the same maker ;) It looks as though maybe they specialized in crepe-y chiffony eveningwear, if they were doing the same kind of stuff through the eras shown...

Yes, looks like this firm did a lot of silk chiffon-y stuff! I took a very quick look at several listings and saw just 1 or 2 I thought were misdated.

Oh, you know, I also made a dress with that bodice style in around 1973, to wear to a wedding, and I put an older-style brooch in the center where your beaded piece is. So, I would date that dress more by overall style as well as the type of beading on that center piece.
