A rescued skirt...old or not?

This one was rescued from a bin of moldy stained nasty fabric at a garage sale.

It wasn't stained, but the mold monkeys had had their way with it! I am now a believer in the power of bleach! She cleaned up quite nicely with only 2 pinhead rust spots remaining and is bright white. (forgive the yellowish pics, had the camera metered for darks today)

I was struck by the intricacies of the folding and sewing. Each of these little triangles is folded back from what looks like a simple gathering of the fabric. The back side is straight/flat, as if the excess fabric were just pinched from it's length and sewn up.

Eyelet lace at the hem, along with a few small bits of machine ribbon/lace trim, also at the hips.

No tagging or marks, machine sewn, flap over and button at the waistband, about mid calf length on my manni (she's a bit tall, though).

Any ideas what I have here, name and age-wise?

Jenn, I agree on the Edwardian era for this. Love the tucking detail.

That did clean up nice!

Yes, I love rescuing a treasure....but the sinus reaction from the musty is a bit of a pain!
This one was so icky it rode home in the trunk and I washed it outside in a bucket!

Don't you just wonder how these things that are so lovely get disposed of so readily? When did the item become fodder for the rag bin instead of something lovely?

I love the triangular effect on that. I would be tempted to wear it on the outside so people could see that (or just display it). Gee...i don't want to say how many clothing items my manni has that i bought for her to display...
