A slightly radical idea to float with the forum

I was aware for a long time that their are vintage and retro fashion collectors and mistakenly under the impression collecting vintage fashions just meant collecting, storing and occasionally admiring their collection.
I had not until recently seen vintage been worn today primary for liking the styles of the era (a slight over simplification I know you get my drift)
I know the opportunities are limited today for women indulge in her passion to wear vintage look which as a outsides I think is a great shame . I think because it's not seen as in the same light as main stream modern trend fashions.
I am thinking to myself that it would be a nice idea to have some where that vintage fashions could be show cased (private for members here or public) on the web a sort of page where you could have photos of your wearing your latest vintage finds or favourite items.
As a few member sell vintage the more interest which can be egenerated would mean that the biding would get more competitive thus resulting in higher prices which cannot harm any business.
I have not thought through all the practicalities but I do think it is well worth thinking about.
Just an idea which may be a none starter but it would be interesting to hear any opinion you may have on this subject. One difficulty I can see is finding enough ladies who would be willing to participate so that's why I say a members only or private site , to protect your privacy.
All the best Paul.

Hey Paul, I think that is great idea. I love to see vintage worn, but like you said the opportunities are scarce. I mean I had a Mexican circle skirt on a few weeks ago in Newcastle (the seaside town in Co.Down, not the city) and people were staring at me like I was out naked. Of course I wouldn't mind the attention if people were saying 'oh that's a lovely skirt', but I felt the attention was more 'what the h**l is she wearing' and it can get a big uncomfortable after a while.

I love to see everyone dressed up in their finery! To be honest I see it quite a lot - although maybe not era specific there is certainly a lot of it about once you start looking. Maybe I see it more as there are a lot of students where I live, and while it may not be an entire outfit I do spot shoes or blouses etc. that aren't just from topshop.
(OT - I was at the antiques centre near me the other weekend and there were 2 different couples in full 1940s attire.. which prompted me to leg it up to the top floor into the clothing room before they did as I knew we'd be after the same things, lol!)

We have had a couple of threads posted here where people post 'what vintage you're wearing now' etc. - maybe it's time we started another one!
My trouble is half the time I do find something I want to show off there's no way I could get into it to model myself... :D

Hi Everyone
I do think it would be nice to see a new thread of "what vintage you're wearing now" or called something with the same meaning re-started again ( had not seen one but then that me not searching).
Time is precious for every one I accept but at least these days you do not have to finish off a film and run down to have it developed.
As the opportunities for wearing vintage is limited it might even encourage members who are not commercially contact to the business also to join in an publish a picture or two.
In my view it should not just be restricted to full vintage look that would be nice but even if you mix vintage with modern cloths that I think would be also very interesting ,it could even be a photo one taken a little while ago.
All it would take would be one member to start a appropriate named thread and to post a picture of themselves wearing vintage, then I am sure other would join in very quickly.
After all the number of times here i read one another complementing each of on a fabulous dress I am sure all member will have something in there wardrobe they will look equally fabulous wearing.

Harriet has found the thread ( I could not) Thanks.. Great if every one can join in.

Thank you ,yes the collection is coming along nicely. The beaded dress is just so nice I do like the 20's so much. I keep finding a few things , still have one or two items to add to the page. I just get more and more interested in vintage fashion as time goes by.
it's also very interesting to see how vintage is been worn
