\'A Sportaville Model\' .. Earlier skirt example?

Helloo,

This is my first post including pictures, so apologies if it makes the screen all screwy or anything.. :o

So the images are of my gorgeous Sportaville skirt, it is in a black taffeta to around mid calf length, and I'd say around a half circle. Fastening to the side with a metal zip and hook and eye (plus some popstuds that look to have been added later), it has a lovely trio of 'bows' to the front that are detailed with rhinestone buckles.

Here's the label;

I've only ever come accross pieces as early as the late 50s-60s, with the majority of the internets yielding 70s design examples.. but the label and style seems very 40s to me, and I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with Sportaville, or know when they started? I can't find much history!

Sorry for the crappy lighting also, I'm moving studio and there's literally no wall space right now..

Ooh thanks for that, it seems a really good website for similar checks... Unfortunately I don't think that's the same company as was making clothing, as I've seen examples from as early as the 50s, unless the Sportaville name was bought out in the 80s- which is of course possible!

But thank you very much for your help :D

Hello! i don't know how much help I'm going to be here BUT i am a huge fan of Sportaville designs.I have a couple of skirts all by the company in crazy novelty prints. All of my skirts are classically 1950's and all have this label in. I would say this, along with the bow detailing and rhinestones suggests to me your skirt is a 1950s example. Also how does it fasten? Metal zip?
