A tailor/seamstress style button question!

On the silk mini dress I just posted there are fabric covered buttons to the rear, which are attached in a particular way and I can't for the life of me think what it's called.

You see it on higher end stuff (or I have anyway, could be more widespread) where the button appears to dangle from a single thread, with another thread wrapped around (like a hair wrap is the only way I can think to describe it!)

Does anyone know what I am talking about? And if so, what is the correct term (if there is a term)?

I shall try and take a picture if that would help..
TIA!!

Yes, a picture would be helpful. I have my sewing book out now. It covers sew-through buttons, shank buttons, reinforced buttons, link buttons, covered buttons and jeweled buttons. There is also a Chinese ball button.

Would it be a thread shank?

(I don't know why that link is not working. You may have to copy and paste.)
