A Titanic Insurance Claim

    Just saw this on Facebook/ the amended 1913 claim made by Margaret Brown for belongings lost in the sinking of the titanic. One necklace was $20,000!

    The Unsinkable Molly Brown...the Irish lace gloves for $150...lots of money for a pair of gloves those days.

    ...3 crates of ancient models for the Denver Museum.... hmmmm I wonder what those were....

    Presumably a lot of those items were in her stowed luggage and theoretically, they may someday find the necklace if it was gold and gems...

    Lady Duff Gordon had her spring Lucile collection for the New York fashion shows on the ship. She claimed for those too.

    The bodies that were retrieved over the next few weeks had their clothing and effects listed so specifically that you can figure out what most people were wearing that night. I remember finding the list online a long time ago and there was one gentleman who was listed as wearing a black and white houndstooth suit with purple socks!
