Maybe no one else finds this funny and I was up too late. I think the label in this lovely coat is hilarious

"Misty Harbor Wish -
Health to Wear This-
Strength to Tear This-
And Wealth to Buy a New One-"

Inside the collar, there is a little label like on a man's suit collar and it says:
"Wear in Good Health"

I just love the color of this and it will be coming soon to KitschNSink at the mall.

Very witty! Some of the labels found on these older garments are
priceless.

It reminds me of some cartoons today where some i swear the animators just made them to amuse themselves or while they were screwing around in the art dept. maybe someone just thought of the label to amuse themselves. But i definitely wouldn't want to tear the coat :) its too cute.

Now I have a bio for Lizzie so this can go in the label resource if she wants it. Yippee..

Misty Harbor is an imprint of the Blair Clothing company.

In 1910, John Blair was approached by a classmate in law school about becoming a sales manager for a raincoat company. He took a suitcase full of raincoats along on his travel back home for Easter vacation and approached shops along his route home. He was not very successful because shops were not enthusiastic about stocking a sizeable inventory of an unproven product. He came home only selling one raincoat...to an undertaker for personal use. Despite selling one coat only, he borrowed $500 and mailed 10,000 to undertakers around the country.

The New Process Rubber Company was the result. In the ensuing years, the market would change and new varieties of cloth and materials would be incorporated as they were introduced to the market place. The Misty Harbor ladies coats would be introduced, and the imprint is still being used today.

For a time, the Jonathan Logan company designed the Misty Harbor raincoats. These can be spotted by the collar tag that reads "Wear in Good Health"

Today Blair still survives and has shifted to the catalog business and has expanded to career wear under the Irvine Park imprint.

Thanks for posting that bio Chris! I have always wondered about Blair. I have a couple of vintage dresses from them and wasn't sure whether to list or not. I thought they were cute but didn't know if they would garner any interest. I had no idea they had been around that long!!

Thanks honey!!
