:hiya: everyone!

I'm after buying acid free tissue paper to wrap my clothes when I start selling online.

I've looked on Ebay & there's so many on there, but all diff sizes, grams, quantity & then diff p&p that it's difficult to know what's the best deal & good quality.

Any advice wld be great & if anyone can recommend an Ebay seller in UK, that'll be even better!

Thankyou!

A very bewildered Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I get my acid free tissue paper from two sources - a wholesaler who specialises in bags and tissue paper and also an art supply shop. As you've discovered, there are a few different types, especially buffered and non-buffered. For your purposes though, unless you're selling antique garments to collectors who are going to use the paper for storage, you may not need to fuss too much. I'd recommend just plain tissue paper - your customers are probably just going to pop it into recycling anyway. Of course, I may be wrong! It is nice to be able to say that it's acid free, but I wouldn't worry about spending much money on it.

Hi Sarah

Sorry for the delay in replying. I was checking through my invoices for you. Here's a link to JWS Merchandising. They have an eBay shop and I've ordered quite a lot from them in the past. They're very reliable and their prices are competitive too. I bought 500 sheets of acid-free tissue paper, 10 white jiffy padded envelopes, 2 rolls of Scotch clear packing tape and it came to a grand total of £17.50 (including VAT)!! Phew! My last order was 10th January 2009 so I'm not sure if their prices have changed but there it is. Hope that's useful . . .

I agree with Nicole, don't worry too much about getting PREMIUM tissue wrap. Yes, it feels nicer but your customer will just rip it up for recycling anyway. The one I use is fabulous quality anyway.

Good luck! xx

I'm with Louise, that JWS packaging is where I get all my packing stuff and acid free tissue paper from too. They have good prices and the postage is super quick.

I always buy the 500 sheet pack of tissue too.

 Thankyou so much Nicole, Louise and Lei! Well, I'm off to check out JWS - those prices sound really good value & I can c there's absolutely no point now in buying premium. Yippee, don't hv to go searching frantically around anymore :dogs:!

Sarah - Bewildered no more ;)

I was not aware of the JWS source and will go back to look at it more carefully, but would like to add a word of caution about using colored acid-free tissue paper (which I never saw before). My concern is that if it gets wet or damp you may have color bleeding onto the garment. If they have acid-free paper without color I would recommend using that instead.

They do sell colored paper but most of the acid free tissue that I buy from them is the plain white kind. I've been using it for years from this seller and haven't had a problem yet with it :)

I always use coloured acid-free tissue paper and have never experienced any problems but then I usually post in a waterproof mail bag. Sometimes I use bubble wrap over the tissue paper depending on what I'm posting.
