For folks on on Instagram, I published the image of this sweet pin cushion on the Vintagefashionguild account - A 1913 Sampson & Morden silver hatching chick pincushion nestled in its egg-shaped, velvet covered case.
And then I see on Facebook this terrific squirrel pincushion made by the Steiff Company around 1905.
It has black bead eyes, felt arms, ears and feet, a mohair tail, and is holding a red berry. The squirrel sits on a green wool leaf that also functions as a needlebook. This piece is about 10cm tall (4 inches).
It was sold by Christie's auctions.
