Advice On Nice Old Ladies Vintage Jewelry

Hello,
I need some help from someone who knows something about costume jewelry. A few weeks ago I decided to try a new approach to hunting down vintage clothes. I put an ad in our local paper and was amazed at the number of calls I got. (As long as you don't live in or around Wichita, Kansas, you are welcome to use this idea ) Anyways, I met this sweet old woman that sold me some great 60's items including that Neal-McClintock dress. Before she saw my ad, she had taken some things to one of those edrop places to sell. She took a huge box of costume jewelry. I just found the listing and they lumped it all together in one lot. If someone would mind taking a look at the listing and telling me if you think she is getting the shaft by having all the items listed together. Maybe there is nothing good enough to seperate out, but most of her clothes would have been quite pricey and I'm guessing her jewelry would have been too. http://cgi.ebay.com/BIG-LOT-VINTAGE...6594316QQihZ015QQcategoryZ10972QQcmdZViewItem
Thanks for your help in advance!

:hiya: Yikes, I am so glad you got some of her clothing. I buy jewelry..quite a lot...but mostly fine jewelry..However, unless some of these are signed, I do not see anything special. I don't know why ladies think their jewelry is so special??? Easier to store and hang onto??

Hi Linda,
Thanks so much for checking out the auction. I'm not sure if any of the brooches are signed or not. Hopefully they will do just fine as a lot. I might even bid, there are some neat pieces I could use to accessorize the clothes I'm listing. This old lady (Mary) is so funny. She thinks everything in her closet is from the 1940's. (It was all from the 60's or later). She actually sold a dress through the edrop. They listed it as a 1944 Mr. Blackwell dress, it was actually 60's, too. Oops!
Thanks again!
Carrie

Hi Carrie,

Well you are the one that lucked out with that lovely Neal McClintock outfit that you did get!!! I agree with Linda, not to be negative but the jewelry appears to be quite mediocre...so there was no great loss there. The edrop store obviously does not have people well trained in what people bring in and take people on their word. You expect the owner to know when they purchased something but as is often the case for all of us they either really don't remember or are outright lying (as long as the price is right and we do know what we are purchasing without their opinion that is what counts...it's nice to deal with people who do remember and can give us true provenance to their pieces) to us the buyers who may be younger but really do know what we are purchasing!

Good luck with the listing of the Neal McClintock!

Thanks so much! I hope it does well, too! I'm actually rethinking my decision to do a buy it now on it. I might relist everything I have right now in auction style. I did sell quite a number of things at BINs and did (I think) pretty darn good. I'm always going back and forth on which is the best way...
