Hello VFG Members!

Recently purchased this dress on eBay and I’m trying to figure out the era in which it was made (I am assuming it is from the 50s). The eBay seller let me know that the dress originally belonged to a relative that worked downtown Boston from the 40s-70s and would frequent a store called Filene’s Basement (which sold designer clothing at bargain prices usually due to minor defects). Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

What a nice find. Does the dress have any tags or labels? Is the zipper metal or plastic? And last question what is the length of the skirt - measurement from the waist to the bottom of the hem?

Knowing these things will help us date it better.

Thank you! I bought it for an event and was pleasantly surprised that I do not need to have it tailored to fit! Unfortunately, there are no tags or labels. From waist to bottom hem it measures 22 inches and the zipper is metal!

It looks mildly 60s 64-66 to me, knee length, or just above is typical, and those large scale metallic looking lurex brocades were really popular mid 60s.
