Age of Curiel dress

I have a dress by Curiel and from what I understand, she designed for Bergdorf Goodman from 1955 until her death in 1969. The other Curiel dresses I've seen online from that time period have a Bergdorf Goodman label in addition to the Curiel one, or a label with both names on it.

I wonder if this dress is more likely from the late 40s or early 50s, before she was working with Bergdorf Goodman, or if someone just removed the Bergdorf Goodman label from the dress and left the Curiel one...

I don't think it is earlier than mid 50s. Maybe 60s.
Is that a metal zipper or nylon?

It is a really great looking dress whatever the date!

I agree with Brenda and would put this dress into the early '60s - the shoulder line is soft and rounded, too soft for '40s. The hemline is too short for '50s. Is there any indication that it's been taken up or down? I think the silhouette and bow details are early '60s.

It's a great little black dress, and you can see the quality.

Thanks Nicole! I had no idea what to think of the bow detailing.

I don't think the dress has been altered - the bottom hem has the same finishing ribbon that I see on the other seams in the dress. It's knee-length.
