Age of this bag?

Hello! I found this bag yesterday and I am wondering how old it is. I found bags that were exactly the same online and most of them were dated 1980s. I feel the bag is older than this becuase it is a wool tweed and the lining material feels like an old rayon. Also the label looks old too. I know it's at least as old as the 1980s as I found a theatre ticket inside from 1984. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, the label style suggests 1950s/60's to me. I'm not seen any bags in this fabric before but I wonder if it was part of the natural/traditional goods being made in Bermuda.

I suspect it was being carried by someone who was into vintage in 1984. I think of these bags as usually being from the 1930s or 1940s, although I am sure they were made well after the war too.

This "Preppy" style was very popular in the early 1980's and I think that is when your bag is from. I did a search for HAE Smith Bermuda Bag and found one bag listed on eBay and two on Etsy right now with this label - all described as 1980's. It's a pretty classic style that was made for many years but I think yours is 1980's, as well.

Hi Melanie and thank you for your reply! That makes a lot more sense than 1980s. I haven't found a single thing about the company that made this bag. I've seen some of them in plaid and a few in solid colours. Is this style of bag called a Bermuda bag? That's what most of the other bags are listed as.

Hi Jonathan! That makes sense also. I'm not sure what kind of crowds the Ottawa Little Theatre attracted, but they are still active today. Ottawa Little theatre has been around since 1913. Also, I did some research on the play and it was based on a movie that came out in 1969.

Hi Linn! You could also be right. As most of the other bags are listed as 1980s and as you said this style was popular then, it could be from the 1980s. This is very confusing as the materials looks old! The only other place I have seen handles like this is on old knitting and craft bags from the 1950s and 1960s.
