Age of this sweater, no labels

I've been viewing all those wonderful (and wild!) 40s sweaters in another thread and started thinking about this sweater that I have... any chance that it's from that era? It's definitely wool. There are no labels whatsoever but I don't think it's home-knit. My teen daughter actually loves it but I think the cats look rather sickly!

I kinda like it too! especially the way the intarsia technique makes the cats raised. I think the colour way is very 70's, but yes it's very difficult to identify age with a handknit.

Definitely hand knitted - very cute design, someone's put a lot of work into that. The shape is very boxy though, so I don't think it's '40s, as they tend to be shaped into the waist. If you're displaying it on an adult female mannequin in the first photo it's quite long too - which (assuming it's for a woman) puts it into the late '70s-'80s for me. An earlier one would sit on the waist.

It's too unpolished for a commercially made garment so I think was made with a lot of love for a cat lover. Are you sure it's pure wool?
