alfred shaheen dress

Hi all-
I recently purchased a Shaheen dress and wanted to know some info on it. I am posting a photo I found of the exact style of the one I bought. The tag dates it to the 50's. Would it be considered a sarong? cocktail? wiggle? etc. It is in perfect condition other than it has been hemmed. Does that devalue it? Thanks for any info-Paula

Shaheen dresses usually feature printed fabric. I've never seen a Shaheen dress made of (what looks like) brocade, so this one is puzzling.
 
Okay, just because I've not seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Just noticed a seller on another thread with a brocade dress by Shaheen, so it's not unheard of. Hers was est. mid-60s, and your is a similar shape and fabric.
 
Wow- quick reply, thanks! Here is a pic of the label:

The dress is not a brocade. It appears to be satin (blue) with an more of an embroidered print of blue and white bamboo fronds. I will try to take a photo of it to post.
