ALSO on SHE\'S A BETTY.....

BELOW the vintage fashion news....

"Back in Skinny Jeans reminds you that toiletries are not regulated by the FDA, and your lipstick may, in fact, contain lead."

This was news to me....I thought the FDA covered cosmetics, and that makeup with heavy metals was forbidden since the Victorians banned arsenic from candy...BUT NO.

Makeup and toiletries are apparently exempt; there's a link to a site which gives the skinny on everything from deodorant to baby products by brand name, toxicity rated 0 to 10.

Shampoos, soaps, sunscreens; if you or your CHILDREN use ANY commercial products, I would recommend taking a peek at this site

ps....some of the most toxic were products from the 'health food' section!

They don't say how the things are rated...like the acne cream that is a 10 on their scale. Is that because it is still toxic when used correctly, or is that if you ingested it?

When I gave it a rapid scan, they were talking primarily about skin absorption, except on lipstick, where they do mention actually eating it in the process of wearing it....BUT I'd have to go back and give it a careful read to know if I'm 100% correct. I bookmarked it for study and reference, believe me...
