Am I measuring this right?

I know that is more rare for men to shop by sleeve measurement measured shoulder seam to cuff like ladies do. I am trying to convert my menswear listings to include the arm measurement from back seam to cuff. Obviously the arm of a suit coat can't be stretched straight out. How does one compensate for this?

DO you take the backseam to the edge of the garment and then measure the arm seperately and add them up?

Should I take a photo to show what I am doing or is this intelligible?

I do sleeve length too, but like a shirt size might be 16/34 for example, i thought that they would be looking for that second measurement perhaps.

I did read that recently about men's sleeve measurement being taken from the middle of the back out to the end of the sleeve. I have never done it that way, but maybe I should. As for how to do it, it seems like what you suggest would work well. Measure from middle of back to seam, then measure again down to end of sleeve, then add them together.

That's what i will go with. I will explain that is how I take them so they understand where I am coming from.

I have a lot of men's jackets I am saving for April 1st, but I do have some in the mall already.
