One of my favorite sites on Facebook is the Embroiderers' Guild of Victoria. They just posted this amazing piece of lace. (Shame, when I put it on this forum the image is a bit fizzy.)
And here is the text: "This absolutely stunning table mat is worked in the technique of Orvieto lace.
Orvieto is a form of crochet lace from Orvieto, Italy. It's been around since at least the 17th century. It resembles Irish crochet with motifs worked separately and then joined by a fine chain stitch.
This piece was found on Pinterest, but without a link back to artist who created it. So, if you know who created this, please let us know so that we can give credit."
