This dress has no label and appears hand-made. It is made from a soft, furry blanket-like fabric with a very slight stretch to it. The workmanship appears to be very vintage - zig-zag stitching, metal zipper, 2 snaps at the neck which appear quite old. 26" waist and very high slit, as you can see. I was thinking this may be from the 60's but I'm just not sure. I really hope someone can help.

Thank you!

Thanks Amber. Do you think it would help if I took photos of the inside? The zipper pull is very small which also made me think it was old but you are right - it is hard to tell. I just don't want to list this dress unless I am sure.

An interior look might help, but no guarantee. The zipper really isn't a tell all here either. Home made seamstresses use what they have, and that means that a 20 year old zipper from the 50's could easily go into a dress she may be making in the 70's. The keyhole design looks early 70's to me, but that doesn't mean that it was made then either. The look came back in in the late 80's/early 90's, so it could be from then as well.

I think I'd like to see a closeup of the interior hem, the zipper and snaps as well as a close-up of the fabric if possible.

I think it's a costumey dress someone has made up, or had made up, perhaps for a party - I don't think it's fashion in the usual sense. I'm going to go with '80s or more modern. Hard to tell with things like this, but those thigh splits and '60s styling came back in the '90s so I think that's the likely date. I don't recall acrylic "fun furs" being available any earlier than the '80s.

Thank you everyone for your input! I also thought it may be a costumey type of dress made for a party, but the stitching and zipper and snaps appear to be vintage, although I am definitely not an expert. I will try to get some close-ups of the interior hem, zipper and snaps and post it just to be sure.
