Gorgeous bodice on that one, Harriet! I have seen the Benham name--once (!), but know absolutely nothing about it.... There were SO many NYC design houses that must have been high quality, but small, such that you just don't see/can't find much out about them. Sadly, because some of the most-well-made items I've ever had are from some of these firms!

I just got a gorgeous short Benham cape. Very full swing, short, bright red with a very wide band of black fur trim---similar to Bonnie Cashin's hemline trim. Well made. Ties at neck. I will post the photos when I get them done. I can't find anything on Benham either. But this is a quality vintage cape. I haven't had time to ID the fur yet. This cape I may keep for myself!
