Do you mean the scarf is from the Art Deco period Deborah? I may have missed an earlier thread but I actually think this fits the geometric/Op-Art style - 60's - rather than Art Deco but I can see why you see design elements that suggest Deco.
it's apparently a cellulose acetate fabric the Rhodia chemical company used to produce in yarn form from the 20s until between the 60s & 70s.
Like Will, the tie blog guy, I've had ties that were labelled something like "Rhodia acetate, Woven in France", and which were jacquard patterned 60s ties.
