Hello everyone, I'm trying to figure out if this vintage set from Andrew Geller is a type of alligator, or leather embossed alligator, neither item has what type of material it is , maybe faux? (usually if it's alligator it will say "genuine alligator"). The shoes were from Shillitos Department Store located in Ohio. I've ruled out lizard and crocodile. Thanks

Just checked the shoes again, and on the bottom, in very tiny script it has Antique Alligator Calf, so could I assume the bag is also alligator calf?

A clue is to look at the regularity of the stamping - you can see the pattern matches exactly on the front of the shoes - this just wouldnt happen naturally :)
They are a great size. I love the shape of the bag handle.
I say the set was early to mid 1960's, because of the broader toe shape.
