Ann\'s Vogue Shop, Cleveland Ohio - dates?

hello!

i'm trying to date a very 30's looking dress with a nylon overlay (rather than chiffon), which has an older label that reads "Ann's Vogue Shoppe, ???? broadway, Cleveland Ohio".
thinking the dress might actually be 50's (sorry - will add pics if necessary), but i really wondered if anyone knew anything about the shop and when it was in business from?
i've seen a couple of other dresses (literally just 2) on ebay with the same label, so i guess it may have been quite big?
any knowledge welcomed!
tia..

Do you have a picture? that could solve the 30s vs 50s if nobody knows the label.

when you said Ann's Vogue shop...i was thinking you were talking about Anne opening up a store and what the dates were :D

ok, days later i am back with many pics!! have one other with the same label listed on ebay in 1950's, and she think s it may have been a fancy dress outfit made at that time? mine is very pretty but i'm confused by the synthetic-y top layer, like a nylon voile, which says later to me. took a close up of it, below. it's unhemmed too, edge left a bit jagged (unless it was hemmed then got chopped later?
but the label looks quite old - although i think i may have found an entry in the ohio yellow pages?
all opinions welcome! and excuse the (enormous amount of) non-airbrushed pics...

TIA!!!

It's weird because up here in Ontario I have found several of
Ann's Vogue Shoppe labels on evening dresses/gowns. Very well made
and the ones I had dated from the 50s to early 60s. Your's looks late
50s to me and is lovely! I thought I had some info on this label from
several years ago, but I can't find it (have a feeling it was lost on my other hard drive).

Oh...my labels were the same as yours

I spent a couple summers in Cleveland about 15 years ago and this label is sure looking familiar. Quite possibly because I hit the vintage shops there on Lakewood Dr. quite a bit.

If this old memory actually comes up with anything , I will post!

thank you both! i think you're right sue, i'm going to go for late 50's as you've confirmed my suspicions!

i'll keep trying to find out so i can maybe get some info for the label resource. right then - time to open up photoshop!

I worked at Ann's in 1980...they used to do a lot of dresses for the Masonic Order, etc and many times thru the year they would come to Cleveland from Canada. Each dress wS special order, special fitted. The back room with all it's laces, material, threads, faux diamonds was something to behold. Seeing the women sitting diligently at their sewing machines making each dress was a vision. The memories...
