Hi all,

Me again *smile*

Beautiful gown from Ann's Vogue Shoppe. I have done the research and know much about the shoppe 1949-07-05, very active in the early 50s to late 70s, not much you can find about the 80s and 90s until they demolish part of the shop in 04 in an Urban Renewal project... but I am not 100% sure on the date of the dress, being that it is rather classic and timeless. The brocade like material has almost a quilted feel. The over skirt, is divine and very old school Hollywood, but... well Ill save what I think and see with what you come up.

As usual, I need help better dating this piece as well as describing the material and style. I do have a pic of the label, if need be.

Thanks,

*~Eli

Hi Eli,

Have you read the guidelines for the forums? It has lots of helpful information about what to provide us to get the best results - that's a round about way of saying:

"Yes, please, post pics of all of your labels, especially as you know this is a classic and timeless design".

Also - you have access to all kinds of information that we don't - tell us what you think, as it will really help. Thank you.

Ok sure, I didnt post the label because the camera was charging, so here it is.

Ann's Vogue Shoppe: 6203 Broadway, Cleveland, Ohio. Incorporated in 56 and cancelled in the early 2000s from what I can tell.

All of the dresses I have seen online are from the late 50s to late 60s, maybe early 70s but I cannot find much more about the shop after the 70s beyond a demolition that effected the actual building in 2004 I think. They look custom made, couture even in some cases, and they all have a similar "Old World" charm that hints of an older era.

I believe this dress is from the 60s, but it does have a certain "old world" flair to it too. I love the split over skirt.

I tend to stay away from 50s and do not have a ton of experience with it unless it is leather or fur. Anything too pre 60s I find, I usually hand it over to someone else, it just isnt what I sell. But I am posting a line of dresses to wear for New Years Eve (albeit a little late) and this is actually one of the first vintage pieces I ever purchased intended for resale.

Any suggestions on how you would describe the dress would be appreciated and if you believe it is 60s too, why? I recognize this as 60s because my Mom had similar style gowns, but hers were from the 50s as well, so I ws curious if anyone thought it could be 50s.

I have seen a few dresses and posts floating about in time, there are a few about Ann's Voque Shop Cleveland here at the Guild.
Ann\'s Vogue Shop, Cleveland Ohio - dates?

hello!

i'm trying to date a very 30's looking dress with a nylon overlay (rather than chiffon), which has an older label that reads "Ann's Vogue Shoppe, ???? broadway, Cleveland Ohio".
thinking the dress might actually be 50's (sorry - will add pics if necessary), but i really wondered if anyone knew anything about the shop and when it was in business from?
i've seen a couple of other dresses (literally just 2) on ebay with the same label, so i guess it may have been quite big?
any knowledge welcomed!
tia..

Definitely 60s - I'm going with mid - and that metallic matelasse fabric was very popular then. Ann's Vogue Shop must have been relatively popular because I have found
several over the years up here in Ontario. All have been 60s/70s era.
