Another Cufflink ? - Opinions?

Not very exciting but I am perplexed by these cufflinks. I have tried quite a few different search terms and found nothing similar. I am assuming these are handmade?? I have no idea how to date and realize they could be quite new - just hoping not :) More than anything just looking to learn a little for future reference so thought I would check with all of you.

They appear to be a thin piece of some sort of metal (copper?) with the decorated enamel (?) over the top. I have shown the back and am pointing to an area that is chipped so you can see what is underneath. They measure about 1-1/4" at across.

They are certainly different - at least as far the the cufflinks I have seen. Any thoughts?

Thanks all - I appreciate!

Maureen

I think they are enamel on copper - C. 1950's. Copper enamel jewelry was very popular thoroughout the 1950's. Some was made and sold commercially by companies like Renoir and Mattisse (and others) and some was done in Arts and Crafts classes - at summer camps, schools and probably adult ed. type classes. If yours are absolutely identical they were probably commercially made. They are turned in your photos but they look identical to me.

So cool! I totally agree with Linn on dating, and they do not look "amateur-made," or even hand made by an artisan. I think they are commercially made, even though they don't look 100% perfectly identical. Any minute irregularities in shape look like they may be from wear (such as a point or corner not being as sharp as the corresponding place on the other one). And they are wonderful!

Thanks ladies!! I appreciate. You are right - now that I am looking, I see that the are probably not handmade. They just had that look to them but upon closer inspection you are (of course) correct.

They are really cool and I am glad to know what they are and have an idea of dating. I am slowly but surely working my way through a box of men's jewelry that I got at an auction. Finding some fun things!
