Another dress.. what determines vintage 70\'s vs current

on a dress such as this? Silk Jersey, an Eclair Metal back zipper which they still use in Europe, unfortunately no tags, but it came with the Ricci dress and I'm pretty sure is French made. Looks Oscar de la Rentish.

I agree, that particular dress is a tough call. It could be off the peg from any era...that classicaly styled sort of thing.
I would look at finish and fabric, and tags if they were present.

It's very pretty, no matter the vintage!

Couldn't love it more if you paid me. It COULD be newer, but sure looks late 60s/early 70s to me. Poppies were pretty hot then, too. LOVE that! Ang

I love this dress and I did list it as 70's because of the style, the flowers, and the silk jersey material but it does seem that it could be newer as well. I do know it is French though because of the Eclair metal zipper. So much changes but a lot seems to stay the same when it comes to higher end fashion. It has a whole lot of handsewing which makes it even harder to date.

It is hard when you get classic styles of dress like that! I would be thrown too. I see what you mean about possibly being newer - the vertically banded sections of beads and sequins remind me of 1980s frank usher, and those very nice quality silk backed made in india beaded/sequinned dresses (like the sequinned butterfly poncho's sass and bide copied a year or so ago).
