Ive just re-found this necklace and bracelet set.
Am i right in saying its probably 80s in an earlier style?
Seems to be mother or pearl and maybe unmarked silver and im not sure about the black. Glass perhaps?

Thank you for any help as always,
X

The black substance looks like enamel, the way the smaller droplet has been sunk in. That would make it a sort of cloisionne technique - a metal outline filled in.

I agree that it looks like enamel - possibly on sterling. Are there any marks? I'm not sure of the date or that I'd call it Art Deco in style. Could you show the clasp and a view of the whole neclace both from the front and the back?

Thanks!

Thank you both for getting back to me!
I cant see any marks at all but here are the other views and one of the clasp.

Thankyou! X

Susan Joyce,

Thank you for showing us these other views. I believe the inset material is mother of pearl - not enamel, the black looks like it is enamel and the metal looks like it is probably chrome - but hard to say for sure without handling it. I don't collect this type of jewelry, and don't know as much about it as others. The piece reminds me of Mid-Century Modern and may date to the period between 1945-1965. The construction is similar to some pieces pictured in Warman's Third Edition. It also has a Scandanavian "feel." Since there are no marks it is going to be difficult to pin it down unless you find something very similar. It's an interesting piece and should be fun to wear!
