Another voile dress...

yep, somewhat similar, and I'm thinking same era as the last, but would appreciate input.

1. Nelly Don (label matches early 50s from VFG resource) shirtwaist
2. sheer navy and white geometric print voile w/ organdy and appliques at neckline
3. rhinestone-centered buttons (functional)
4. thread loops (belt missing -- the red one is mine)
5. pinked seams
6. side metal Crown zip
7. 3 snaps at each shoulder indicate it had shoulder pads at one time (no longer)

Whadya think? : ) - Liza

I can see this being later 40's but I think the missing shoulder pads were possibly an 80's addition to make it more current. Can you tell if the snaps are old or newer? It's not the fabric to have shoulder pads in by choice I think it would ruin the delicate pretty look.

I agree about the shoulder pads. Hard to tell on the snaps, but my guess is you're right, because the threads strikes me as odd, now that I look at it closely. I'm going to remove them and list it as late 40s. That was my gut feeling. If anybody chimes in with a definitive dissenting opinion, I can always update the listing : )! g'nite!

are you sure the shoulder snaps aren't lingerie snaps? Dresses from this era often have snaps at the shoulders to hold your slip straps in place and prevent them slipping and showing. They were sometimes added by the wearer, which would explain why the thread is different.

I agree and I too see early 50s... perhaps a cusper.

The blue and cream are more 40s colors but the checkered pattern is 50s.

The waist seems more on the natural waistline which I tend to see more in the 40s and to me the 50s is a tad higher.

But what makes me think 50s the applique. The way it is applied and the soft shoulder look is almost an instant transition into the 50s. So. I think very early 50s if not 1950.

I agree snaps were not used for shoulder pads until later like the 80s. If there is two snaps in line then they are lingere snaps as others have suggested. A little piece of ribbon with the opposing snaps was snapped over the straps.
