Hello - y'all were so friendly and helpful in assisting me identify an antique gown, and I'm hoping you may be willing to do so again! I have had this green "Robin Hood" type jacket for a long, long time. I had deluded myself into thinking I would do some repairs on it, but as per always, I merely stuffed it into some deep recess of my closet. I'd love any information anyone may be able to give me about this. It appears to be all hand-sewn (but I'm no expert.) The back of the buttons are stamped with "Fine Gilt". Is this Victorian? Thank you!!!!

I'm really sorry you are having such trouble with getting images to show.

In your second post, I can see you haven't posted the right kind of link. It needs to be a link that ends .jpg or similar.

But in your first post it's a mystery why they aren't showing properly (at least not to me).

Everyone, if you click on the file in the first post, you will find the pictures are viewable.

What an interesting piece. I also think this is a theatrical garment, or home made costume, Victorian to early Edwardian. The garment has very little structure, it should have boning or more details to the construction. That;s my thoughts, anyway,

My thoughts are that this is likely an 1880s -1900s era costume. It has the construction of that era, but is not all that finely made. The shape is a rather late Victorian but the details are anachronistic - very much a Victorian version of Tudor/Elizabethan. Maybe a costume for one of Shakespeare's female pants roles?
