Hello darlings..... I'm new to the forums...but I was referred here by a wonderful woman on Etsy....
So these are pattens....overshoes worn by the working class.
I think they are from 1820.....and I haven't seen any others like this ever.....there is a shoe close to this at the Victoria and Albert museum in London.
So my questions are......does anyone know anything else about them?
I am selling these.....does anyone have any suggestions about finding a buyer for them....a museum perhaps? A shoe Museum?
What do you think......I also have a pair that I have dated from around 1780 or so.....
Any help, info or direction would be greatly appreciated.....
Big smooches....caitie xoxo

Hinged pattens are the last style to emerge and these are late 1830s-40s. This pair is in reasonable but rough shape (they are hard to find in better condition because leather from this period usually suffers from red rot.)
