Hi there! Picked up this sweet little tapestry vest. It appears to be antique tapestry textile possibly remade into a vest at some point in the 20th century. I guess I just would like to know the dating on the textile and then any info on the era that it may have been turned into a vest. I couldn't find anything like it with cursory research.

Interior is lined with low pile olive drab velvet, looks like machine stitching.

Thanks!

Okay, I'll pitch in a bit. I agree it looks like an older textile - I see nap loss to the velvet and some splitting in the satin(?), which both indicate some age to it. I also see machine stitching on the facing edges.
But as to a date pf the construction, these are very hard to narrow down as the style just doesn't change that much. With the machine work, the construction can't be much earlier than 1860s, but my gut feeling is late 1880s to early 1900s.

As to the age of the textile - we need someone else to come along!
