Any Advice On How To Fix A Broken Zipper?

It is a metal skirt zipper. Has anyone ever tried stuffing the metal teeth in the end?? Any ideas on how you would do this?

It is tricky - I have had a few of my own things where I knew they would fit me with a little less opening, then have wiggled the teeth back in (no real skill, just much wriggling!) and then put a safety pin across on the inside to stop it coming off again/going right to the bottom. I have had one occasion where I've managed to get it back on and then uses it normally, so maybe it is just worth a try before you think about replacing it.

well..l would undo some of the stitches below...and look out the piece of metal that stops the zip flying down.

then l would tweezer or plier that off, it usually comes away quite easily on older pieces......and then take the zip off and rethread it from the base...then using same colour thread replace the metal stop you have removed with needle and thread....sew up the seam at base....et voila!!

hope this makes sense!!

I've repaired a few just like Sara does. I have one of those surgery clamps that locks into place, helps a lot holding on to the bugger.

I like to do mine while standing in the open doorway of my office, because darn if those little teeth aren't small and fiesty!
