Any Idea How Old my New Doll Is?

Lady brought a few dresses in and had this doll....I don't sell or collect them but she had such a pretty face I got her. I'm guessing 40s? She had a comb/mantilla combo that's broken off and gone, gelatin based sequins in her hair and on the dress. Stuffed muslin body with rubbery/heavy limbs and head/neck/shoulder area. No tags.

Any ideas? Just curious, I know nothing about dolls! Thanks!

i believe your doll is a Mexican "senorita". I have the same type of doll. My father brought her back from Mexico in the mid-late 1960's.

my doll used to have flowers in her hand and as you can see she has the native veil and comb headpiece (although her comb is broken too, i've managed to not lose it).

looks like my poor girl needs some cleaning up !

Wow, nearly the same doll!! Is yours made the same underneath the skirt? Mine had a rusty nail in her hand I pulled out so Ava wouldn't need a tetnus shot from handling her, likely where some flowers had been.

I know with Mexican tourist stuff the same things get made the same way for years....wonder now if mine is 60s or older? I think the face on mine looks older, but thats neither here nor there....

Ang,
yes, the rusty nail probably held the flowers.

i am no doll expert either, but it was fun to be able to provide info and pics !

Ang, I'm pretty sure your doll is a tourist type as TrickVintage said from Mexico or Spain. I would also date her to
the 50s/60s era. If she was earlier (30s) she would be made from composition, not any type of heavy rubber/plastic
material. I had a doll very similar that my uncle gave me in the late 50s which he got in Mexico.

This one is in really nice shape.
